Beyond the Sword Maiden: A Storyteller's Introduction to the Heroine's Journey is a "how to" book for storytellers, writers, counselors and anyone who wants to share a story about emotionial transformation. We grew up with the hero stories, but found them inadequate and unsatisfying for the events of real life. Stories about injury, illness, divorce, death and other life struggles are about survivors, not winning heroes.
We searched traditional folktales that dealt with these issues and found a unique storyline -- the Heroine's Journey -- which is the basis of our book. Readers will find the stories and templates we used to illustrate the steps of the Heroine's Journey easy to follow.
